A Structured Process for Physical Education Abroad

There is a structured process of taking admission abroad to study physical education, like Sports Science, Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Athletic Training, etc., which has many steps. Choosing the right course and country: If you want to study from abroad, then you first have to decide which course you want to do in which country. USA – is considered good for Exercise Science, Kinesiology, and Sports Psychology, which are courses up to master’s degree. In the UK, you can take admission for BSc/MSc in Sport and Exercise Science and other subjects. If you are interested in Physical Education, Human Movement, and Sports Management, then you should go to Australia. For Kinesiology, Recreation & Leisure Studies, it is good to study in Canada, and if you want to do English-taught, affordable courses, then you should go to Germany or the NNetherlands. All these countries are known for their special courses, so if you want to apply abroad for a specific course, then you need to choose the country and course carefully.

Eligibility Criteria: If you want to take admission abroad to do a bachelor’s degree course in physical education, then you should be 12th passed, you can be from stream; the science stream is helpful. Also, in some countries, having a subject like biology or physical education is even more useful. If you want to take admission to do a master’s degree, then you should have a bachelor’s degree related to the course you want to pursue and if your experience or internships can be beneficial for you.

Entrance Requirements:

  • Language tests like IELTS / TOEFL are conducted so that your English proficiency can be checked and you are fit for that course. So, if you plan to go abroad, you should take the entrance exam only after doing this course.
  • Documents include Academic transcripts, Statement of Purpose, Letters of Recommendation, Resume, and Medical fitness reports are also required in some programs, so you should have all these documents.

Fees and Scholarships: The costs depend on the course and country you choose and can range from around ₹15-30 lakh per year. You can get reductions in your fees through sports scholarships and merit-based funding. Sometimes colleges may also give you a fee reduction based on your physical performance or athletic achievement.

Physical/Medical Tests:

  • While taking admission for physical education, the student must be bodily fit and must be able to fulfill all requirements. In foreign countries, height is measured in feet, and you know it only in centimeters, so by converting cm to ft, you can find out whether your height is eligible or not according to the requirements of that course.
  • Similarly, in foreign countries where imperial unit is used, weight is also measured in pounds, so instead of measuring your weight in metric units, kg, you can know about its requirement by converting kg to pounds.
  • Basic fitness, like running, strength, and flexibility, is also important, as it shows your stability.
  • You should also have medical clearance, which can prove that you have not suffered any major injuries.

Career Options after Physical Education Degree: After getting a physical education degree, you have many career options in your field from which you can choose according to your preferences. These career options include Physical Education Teacher, Sports Coach or Trainer, Fitness Consultant, Athletic Trainer, Physiotherapy, Sports Management, Event Coordinator, and Researcher in sports science, etc.
